With much fanfare, we launched ecycler at TechCrunch50—it was September 2009. Our primary goal was to create the one stop place for recycling. We moved beyond traditional recycling (paper, bottles, etc.) into what we called, shippables. These materials are recyclable, but not having enough value for someone to pick them up. The third phase (never […]
The recent rise in social media has enabled ecycler (and many other businesses) to get in front of more customers than they ever would have been able to before. The recognition that social media sites have created for various brands can work offline, as well. Companies can include their twitter handle or facebook page address […]

Bringing together those who want to give away recyclables and the ones who want to collect them is the service this site renders, and it is a valuable service any way you look at it. Through the site, any person who is interested in recycling can market himself and let others within his community know that he is willing to collect recyclables.
The team responsible for it cites the job creation aspect of eCycler as one of its main assets. That is, eCycler provides a mean for individuals or groups to become self-organized and collect recyclables from those that are willing to give them away. That means that Boy Scout Troops and Church groups among others could advertise themselves using the provided marketing materials, and let the community know they are recycling. People would then look for them as a viable alternative to curbside pickup. The group would raise money for its cause by collecting the recyclables, and every party is benefited by such an approach.
Right now, the site is accepting submissions by collectors who want to market their own recycling programs. If you are one, and the basic premise described above appealed to you, then dropping by the site is certainly worth considering.

Hello Everyone! To get ecycler going, we need collectors to sign up on the site and start marketing their own ecycler recycling programs. If you have recyclables to give away, please be patient as our base of collectors grows — and be sure to point potential collectors you know to the ecycler site.
ecycler.com is a new way to recycle. It is a website that brings together people giving away recyclables and those interested in collecting them.
Start your own recycling program in your area using the ecycler.com website. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme but a serious effort to help people recycle and make some money.
We are a new company looking for people who will become collectors and set up their own ecycler-based recycling programs in their community. Using the ecycler website, ecycler.com, you can print your own marketing posters, business cards and get people in your area to collect recyclables for you, such as from individual households, apartments, businesses, or groups that will save these materials for collection by you.
If there are people in your area interested in giving you recyclables they will contact you via the ecycler website. The site tracks your requests and allows you and others to rate the recycling pick ups.
Currently, the use of our website is free.
